Dear Customer,
Happy New Year and we hope that you and your loved ones are staying safe. In light of the current circumstances, we are taking precautions to minimize the possibility of exposure to the virus for both you and your family and our MFS Team Members.
You may have noticed that we have been taking steps to transition to a virtual and digital work environment over the past few years and we are proud to say that we are completely virtual and digital and will continue to be, now and in the future.
However, we also understand that some of our customers may not be set up to operate in a virtual and digital world. We are here to help you to continue to do business with us and operate in this new world.
The main challenge that we have today is obtaining your tax documents in a manner that is both timely and safe and secure for everyone.
If you prefer to send us your tax documents digitally, we recommend the following;
- Upload the tax documents to your MAPS Vault in a .pdf file, or
- Send the tax documents in a .pdf file via a secure and encrypted e-mail
If you prefer to send your tax documents in paper format, we recommend the following;
- Deposit your tax documents in our secure drop box located in our office vestibule,
- Deliver the tax documents to our office via FedEx (USPS is not recommended), or
- If you are local, we can make arrangements for a courier to pick up the tax documents from your home or office
Once we have the tax documents in our possession, we will schedule a virtual meeting with you (video conference or teleconference), if necessary.
In general, once your tax returns have been completed, they will be electronically filed and copies of your tax returns and tax documents will be digitally uploaded to your MAPS Vault and your tax documents will then be be securely destroyed.
In addition to filing your tax returns electronically whenever possible, we will also make every attempt to have tax payments due made through an electronic withdrawal from your bank account. Tax refunds will also be set up for direct deposit to your bank account.
There may be cases where a paper return must be filed and we will make arrangements with you to have those returns picked up or delivered to you.
We will be contacting you shortly to determine the timing and your method of delivery of your tax documents.
